Research suggests hiring managers spend about seven seconds on an initial scan of your resume. If the layout is cluttered, the key information is buried, or it reads like a job description in reverse, you've lost them before they've started. Every resume I write is structured so the most compelling information hits first.

Generally 10–15 years, unless earlier experience is directly relevant to the role you're targeting. Anything older than that should be summarised briefly or left out. Nobody needs to know about your 2003 retail job if you're applying for a site supervisor role.

Clear, ATS-friendly, and focused on the specific skills and tickets the employer is asking for. Mining companies want to see your qualifications, site experience, and safety record up front — not buried on page two. I've worked directly with mining and resources companies, so I know what they're actually looking for.

Sending the same resume to every job. Leading with duties instead of achievements. Ignoring ATS formatting. Writing a vague professional summary that could belong to anyone. And burying your strongest material on page two. If you're making even one of these, it's probably costing you interviews.

I don't share your information with anyone, I don't use it for any purpose other than writing your documents, and I delete your files once the engagement is complete.
